Day Dreaming

In my freshman Psychology class, I learned all about the stages of sleep. There are four. The first is very light, only lasts about 5-10 minutes, and if interrupted (if someone wakes you during this first stage) you probably wouldn't even remember you'd fallen asleep. You'd probably deny it. The second stage is longer, and it lasts around half an hour. Stages 3 and 4 are spent in deeper sleep. Stage 4 is when you are in what is called the REM stages of sleep. Basically REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement, meaning that while dreaming, while sleeping, your eyes look around quickly and continuously. This is also the stage where most dreams occur. If woken from this stage, you will experience a kind of temporary paralysis, where you can't move your limbs. Pretty interesting, right?

I had a dream the other night that was really weird. In fact, pretty much every dream I've ever had has been weird. Is that just part of the territory? But in my dreams, if I'm not dreaming about going shopping or going to pool parties with guys I do not like anymore, I'm dreaming about death. In most of my dreams, someone dies, has died, or is about to die. In most of the dreams where someone is about to die, that someone is me. Last night, I had a dream where there were these creatures, small things that sort of looked like sour patch kids only not as bright and cuddly. These things had the power to touch you, in a certain spot (it differed with each person), and you would die. Instantaneously. Just before I woke up, one of them had killed a person sitting next to me and then turned to jump on me.

One time I dreamed that the guy I currently sort of liked was my boyfriend and he stepped on something like a land mine and exploded.

But one night was especially strange. I was shopping, right near closing time, like I always do, and I came across a yard sale type area. There were things on the ground for sale. I saw a suitcase lying on the ground near a sort of entrance. There may have been a train track nearby. Someone told me (without really telling me, in that otherworldly dreamy way) the story behind the suitcase: it was a piece of murder evidence. Someone was apparently murdered and stuffed into the suitcase. That was plenty weird, but then he "told me" that the suitcase had to be sold before it could be used in the trial as evidence.

I can't help wondering what, if dreams do mean things about your subconscious, your thinking, that dream meant. What do all of my dreams mean? I was looking around on StumbleUpon and found a design about what kinds of things happen in dreams and what they mean for the person dreaming them. I think I ended up vulnerable and anxious with unresolved threat and unmanaged anxiety. Nice...

What kind of dreams do you have? Do you have mostly good or bad dreams? Have you ever dreamed about an evil little girl a congregation of people worshipped? Tell me about it.

This may have nothing to do with dreams, or it may have everything to do with dreams. I think it's nice and so I put it on here. This'll be my freebie: the one where the video doesn't have to make sense. Tell me if you notice anything strange around the minute mark.
